BURTON B. SILVER, Ph.D., FACN Professor of Physiology & Biophysics, Ret President & CEO IntraCellular Diagnostics, Inc. Dr. Silver has extensive experience as a medical school professor in the research fields of physiology and biophysics. He is a well-known lecturer in his field of cellular physiology and intracellular analysis utilizing the analytical electron microscope. He holds worldwide patents in techniques to evaluate the medical applications of cellular functions and their relation to cardiology, general medicine and dental applications. His professional associations include research with Johns Hopkins Medical School, NASA, Russian Cosmos Space Program, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Bethesda Naval Hospital, US Department of Agriculture, Baylor Medical School, Pacific Medical Center, Yale University, U. of Texas Medical School, as well as being a consultant to multiple pharmaceutical industry firms. Research projects and publications include work in diverse fields such as forensic analysis, endocrinology, asbestosis, cardiology, immunology, osteoporosis, viral identification, septic shock, laser effects on retina, diabetes, heart transplantation, and cardiac by-pass surgery. He is often a keynote speaker at several medical conventions in the United States and abroad on the subject of intracellular electrolyte analysis and heart disease. Dr. Silver retired from academia to become the founder of a successful biotech company, IntraCellular Diagnostics, Inc. Due to a deep dedication to teaching he continues to conduct research projects and enjoys the personal contact of his lectures to the medical profession, and allied health fields. Dr. Silver is also a talented photographer and writer whose visual presentations enhance the understanding of medical topics for both physicians and patients.
